SUSTAINABILITY

Mindful in everything we put our energy into.

Every choice is rooted in care — from the fabrics we choose to the way we create, always honouring you and the earth.

Production

Every CDF piece is thoughtfully designed and made in Los Angeles. We work closely with our local manufacturer and the artisans behind each piece, allowing us to stay connected to every stage of the process. Each garment is crafted carefully in a safe and responsible working environment.

We create in small batches to avoid unnecessary excess. Our fabrics are carefully cut to minimise waste, with remaining offcuts saved and repurposed for use within our studio.

Fabrics

We prioritize recycled and lower-impact fabrics that feel amazing, wear beautifully, and are a little easier on the planet.

TENCEL™ LYOCELL +

TENCEL™ Lyocell is a regenerated cellulosic fiber made from wood pulp sourced from certified or controlled wood sources, including FSC®-certified sources. Its production uses at least 50% less water and carbon emissions compared to generic lyocell, helping reduce its environmental impact.

TENCEL™ Lyocell is produced using a closed-loop process that recovers 99.8% of the solvent, resulting in close-to-zero wastage. Naturally soft and smooth to the touch, it creates the fluid drape and effortless feel we love for CDF. TENCEL™ products are also certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, meaning they are tested for harmful substances.

RECYCLED NYLON +

Our swim fabric is made from 80% recycled nylon and 20% elastane. By using recycled nylon instead of relying entirely on virgin nylon, we give existing materials another life and reduce the need for new raw materials.

The fabric is certified to Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, supporting the verification of recycled content and testing for harmful substances. A more responsible approach to swimwear, without compromising the feel we want against your skin.

Dye Process

Our TENCEL™ fabrics are custom dyed using GOTS-certified dyes, meeting standards designed to restrict harmful chemicals and reduce the environmental impact of textile processing.

Our Los Angeles dyeing partner operates in full compliance with city and state standards, including requirements around textile processing and wastewater discharge. This helps ensure wastewater is handled responsibly before it leaves the facility.

Packaging

Our orders are packed using recycled and recyclable materials, including recycled kraft mailers and POLLAST!C garment bags made from 100% recycled Ocean Bound Plastic pollution. Less virgin material, more purpose for what already exists.
